footyceiling PredictionCeiling
Example6 pts + 36 remaining × 3 = 114 Max Points.
Formula: current points + three points for every remaining league match. A win earns the maximum available three points, so the result is an exact mathematical ceiling.
Ceiling
ExampleA 112-point ceiling can still reach the Premier League Title tier, even if the exact route later proves impossible.
Max Points is compared with the current points total at each tier’s table boundary. This is a deliberately simplified ceiling view; the exact solver below handles shared fixtures, valid result combinations and tiebreaks.
Possibility
ExampleIf one valid route still finishes inside the selected race, the club is Alive; if every route does, it is Clinched.
A fixture-aware solver checks valid remaining results against each inclusive finishing-position range. Exact status stays authoritative even when Path Share or Prediction is unavailable.
Possibility
ExampleIf 10 of 100 neutral paths finish 5th, Europa League Path Share is 10.0%.
Every remaining home win, draw and away win is weighted equally. A path counts only when the club finishes inside the selected range; the current Europa League race therefore means 5th place. Conditional EPS and domestic-cup allocations are excluded until they are confirmed.
Future scorelines are not invented. If a tied group straddles a race boundary and the available data cannot separate it, the open places are shared neutrally across that group.
Prediction
ExampleIf 8,500 of 50,000 modeled seasons finish with a club 1st, its Premier League Title Prediction is 17.0%.
The model estimates separate attacking and defensive strength from each club’s latest 38 league matches, with exponential recency decay and iterative opponent adjustment. Its current evidence half-life is 16 matches.
Promoted clubs begin from an empirical Premier League transition anchor with additional uncertainty that fades as Premier League evidence arrives. Strength uncertainty also applies to every established club.
Same season. Different question.
Starts from the current points and remaining schedule, then treats every future win, draw and loss equally.
Starts from the same current state, then gives each future result a match-specific probability.
They are independent. Path Share does not feed Prediction. Current points set the simulation starting position; recent results also shape rolling team strength, but points are not added again as a separate strength feature.
Inside the model
Use each club’s rolling last 38 completed league matches with exponential recency decay.
Build separate attack and defense ratings, iteratively adjusted for opponent quality.
Translate promoted-club evidence through an empirical anchor and model uncertainty for every club.
Combine both teams’ strengths with league-wide home advantage to produce Poisson score probabilities.
Run 50,000 deterministic seasons and classify every finish against the selected race range.
Exact state
Current live scores are provisionally treated as final results for live calculations. Official footyceiling state changes only after the match is final.
Score or match-state changes trigger recalculation. Clock-only movement does not create a new football state.
Points, goal difference, goals scored, head-to-head points, head-to-head away goals, then a playoff where applicable.
Where future scorelines cannot safely resolve a boundary tie, the relevant open places are shared neutrally rather than invented.
What footyceiling is not
footyceiling is not a betting model, an xG provider, a player-rating system or a historically calibrated forecasting service. It is built to explain ceilings, exact routes and modeled outcomes without blurring those three ideas together.
